This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but there are some major events in Whitby's annual calendar which you may wish to attend (or avoid).

• Whitby Gothic Weekend is twice a year in April and October
• Whitby Regatta is in August
• Whitby Folk Week is in August too
• the main Whitby Northern Soul weekend is in July
